Anti-Social Behaviour Awareness week: MTVH is taking action

04 July 2025

Summary: MTVH marks the end of Anti-Social Behaviour Awareness Week with a spotlight on how we support victims and tackle anti-social behaviour when it affects our customers.

As National Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) Awareness Week draws to a close, we’re joining housing providers across the country in recognising the serious and lasting impact ASB can have, not just on individuals, but on entire communities.

At MTVH, we take ASB reports very seriously and are committed to taking action. We understand how disruptive and distressing ASB can be, and we’re here to support our customers every step of the way.

Our dedicated Tenancy Enforcement Leads work alongside Local Housing Managers to investigate cases thoroughly and ensure swift, appropriate action is taken. We also work proactively with the police, courts, and local authorities to resolve issues and protect our communities.

To make sure our teams are always ready to respond, all housing colleagues receive annual ASB training, keeping their knowledge and skills up to date. And throughout the process, we make sure victims are kept informed, supported, and never left to face things alone.

We’re committed to continuous improvement. We regularly review ASB cases and complaints to learn from what went wrong, and what went right. Our ASB Panel, chaired by the Director of Housing, meets bi-monthly to share insights, review trends, and strengthen our approach.

We also actively gather feedback from customers through satisfaction surveys, to involve customers in shaping our policies and services, because their voice matters. By listening to our customer experiences, we’re able to tailor our services, enhance communication, and ensure we’re delivering the right support at the right time.

  • In 2024-25, we handled cases which ranged from persistent noise complaints and misuse of communal areas to more serious incidents such as violence and hate crime.
  • Noise nuisance is one of the top 3 consistent reasons reports of ASB, followed closely by Arguments and Harassment, and issues with neighbourhoods and communal areas.
  • ASB referrals are made to our Assessment & Support Team to help customers affected by ASB, including those experiencing mental health challenges or threats to their safety.

Maxine Gordon, Director of Housing, MTVH, said:

“No one should have to live with anti-social behaviour. Everyone deserves to feel safe, comfortable and happy in their home. The actions of a selfish minority can make lives miserable for others if left unchallenged.

“That’s why we take every report of anti-social behaviour very seriously and won’t hesitate to involve the police or pursue eviction where necessary to protect our residents.”
