Summary: At MTVH we appreciate the commitment and dedication of community volunteers. We understand how important it is for residents to have a strong sense of community and belonging. Imran Daar, has been volunteering at his local community in West Hendon for over eight months, and believes volunteering allows him to make positive and meaningful impact.
How long have you been volunteering, and what motivated you to take part?
I’ve been volunteering for about 8 months and found out about how I could get involved through computer and cooking classes I joined.
What do you enjoy most about volunteering?
What I enjoy most about volunteering is that it keeps me busy. Before joining, I was a carer for my father who passed away. Volunteering has really helped me cope through my grieving process, and it makes me feel good to connect with others and give back to the community.
What advice would you give to someone who is thinking about volunteering in their community?
I would say jump right in, only good comes out of it! It’s a great opportunity to connect and get to know people and it’s a positive for mental wellbeing.
What impact does resident volunteering make to communities?
I believe it’s very rewarding, it allows people from all walks of life to come together and has even built some long lasting and meaningful friendships.
